Summer 2021 Campus Courses will be Taught Virtually (Registration Deadline is May 18)
- EPSY 5720 – Section *90 (Class #1837): SEM with Sally Reis (June 28 – July 9 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 noon EDT synchronously)
- EPSY 5601 – Section *90 (Class #1838): Educational Research with Del Siegle (June 28 – July 9 from 1 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. EDT synchronously)
- EPSY 5740 – Section *90 (Class #1839): Differentiation with Catherine Little (June 7 – July 23 asynchronously)
Although we had hoped to be together for GCT@UConn (a.k.a., Three Summers) in Summer 2021, the university set the summer schedule to be virtual. Sally (EPSY 5720) and I (EPSY 5601) will teach our classes synchronously from June 28 to July 9. We don’t hold classes on the weekend and Monday, July 5 is a university holiday. Because our classes only meet for 9 days, it is important that you arrange your schedule to be online from 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time for each of the 9 days (we will have a half hour break for lunch and also brief breaks during each class). Some of you may have taken EPSY 5720 as part of our Online Graduate Certificate. If that is the case, you do not need to take it again this summer.
Catherine Little will teach EPSY 5740: Differentiation (which has replaced EPSY 6770: Multiple Menu) asynchronously online from June 7 to July 23. She understands that some of you will be taking Sally and my class during part of that time, and she has planned to minimize work for her class during those two weeks. In the future, we hope to move EPSY 5740 to a spring semester online course. If you haven’t taken EPSY 6770, you should take EPSY 5740 as a replacement for it (although you can wait to take it). If you did take EPSY 6770 then you do not need to take EPSY 5740.
Students who are completing all of their courses this summer will take SuperComp on Saturday, July 10 using UConn’s secure browser system from home. You will need a laptop with a camera and UConn’s secure browser connection. I will conduct brief virtual study sessions each day after EPSY 5601 (from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. EDT) to help you review.
Several of you have asked about Confratute credit. Confratute will be held virtually, and you will be able to take it for credit.
Each of us has experienced changes in our work and home lives as a result of Covid-19. During this unprecedented time of change and uncertainty, we have been thinking of all of you and your safety. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Judith is dedicating all of her time to the EPSY department and is no longer involved in Three Summers. You can direct questions you would have sent to her, to me, and I will work to address them.
While we will miss working with each of you in person this summer, we are looking forward to seeing you online.
-Del (on behalf of the entire Three Summers and Renzulli Center family)
